For my discussion this week, I wanted to research Charity: Water. This is an organization that I have never heard of and wanted to know more. Charity: Water is “a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Founded in 2006, it has helped fund 6,611 projects in 20 countries, benefiting over 2,545,000 people”. After looking through Charity: Waters Youtube page, I loved it. It was greatly executed and ‘pulled the viewer in’ and some would say. Their videos not only look great, but they are very well filmed and educate without being boring.
Their Instagram page is wonderful, in my opinion. It shows men, women, and children smiling and laughing while drinking clean water. It also shows pictures of the water they are able to get to versus Charity: Waters water- and it shows a huge difference. I think Charity: Water does a great job at utilizing these two social media platforms at educating the public on their mission while showing amazing pictures. It made me want to donate- so I did. The speaker in the video used to go to clubs and be a part of that lifestyle- I find it endearing that after finding Charity: Water, he put that part of his life behind him to help people in a foreign country become health through clean drinking water. I feel as if someone such as this could turn their life, like he did helping Charity: Water, most all people can relate. I love this organization and am happy to have learned out it.
