Iv decided to do this post on the Global Fund which is a mission to make try and try to increase the amount of resources worldwide to decreases the spread of AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. It was near to my heart because living in Ghana I saw many people who are affected by these diseases. It gives outlets to the world to be able to donate money to help the people affected by these diseases. There are various programs worldwide which support this mission in more than 140 countries. They have had many great accomplishments which have helped people all over the world including having 11.9 million people treated for TB and the have distributed 410 million insecticide-treated nets to protect families against malaria.
They only have a twitter and Facebook page, however there Facebook page is very appealing and has a vibrant feel to it. It also is very popular with nearly 800,000 likes on there page and 101000 followers on twitter. Though they only have two outlets for social media they are doing a great job of constantly updating their followers with what is going on with the organization. I think that it is smart that they are keeping their social media limited so that they are able to put full effort and excel as much as they are. On their Facebook page they post different stories about people who have been helped by this program which shows people that their money has been put to good use.
On there facebook and twitter page the have many different articles once being about the Bigpush which is an initiative jointed with the huffington post which has articles which educate on TB,Aids and and Malaria (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/24/world-tb-day_n_5018686.html?utm_hp_ref=big-push) There is also an article from the Huffington post which is talking about giving women and children a fair chance to live. The global fund used social media to post not only about the Global fund but also education on the issues of HIV, TB and Malaria which I think is great.
This is different from the other non profits because the have a niche on on the social media outlet that they use, though they are few, they have a great following on what they do have. They use their websites to educated people not only about their mission but also necessary important information that people need to know. All in all they utilize their resources on social media very well and it is definitely helping gain followers for their mission.
