The non-profit that I am choosing to highlight is Heart to Heart International. This organization was started by a group of volunteers that wanted to do more for people and inspire people to do more. They prepare so when a natural disaster strikes they are well equipped to help in any way necessary, they are currently assisting in Africa with the Ebola outbreak by gathering much needed medical supplies, and they also are present in under developed countries helping the people with day to day struggles.
This organization is extremely versatile in its operations and is therefore is afforded the luxury of putting on a number of large scale events in order to raise money for whatever type of relief or campaign that they feel needs attention at any given time. The visual social media platform that I am extremely impressed with is Pintrest, the way Heart to Heart International utilizes this platform when so many other likeminded organizations are struggling with it is revolutionary. They promote texting campaigns, provide statistics and disaster information, and even tell you how you can give through other outlets. There is always room for improvement but as far as I am concerned this visual platform is off to a great start all it needs is some attention.
The next platform that Heart to Heart International uses that I want to talk about is Wordpress. Now this is not listed as a visual platform but I found that it serves the same purpose and is wonderfully kept up. Heart to Heart keeps a close eye and makes sure that all relevant information for viewers can be found on this blog site, it is a one stop shop for those looking to help out or get involved. This blog is organized in a calendar format so that those who are interested can check and see what upcoming events Heart to Heart International is involved in or is sponsoring so that people can come out and support.
We have not talked much about blogs so far but I do find it interesting that a non-profit would turn to this type of social media platform. I believe it has a great deal to do with the type of organization as to how they utilize it. Heart to Heart International being so versatile has a heap of info that they want to get out to viewer about situations they are dealing with as well as other organizations that are assisting with the same cause.
