This week was inspiring and informative all in one. The selflessness of both Doctors without Borders and Charity Water are very inspirational and have even appealed to my desire to donate. These organizations are literally changing peoples lives for the better. I chose to discuss Charity Water, which is an organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Founded in 2006, it has helped fund 6,611 projects in 20 countries, benefiting over 2,545,000 people (Case). This non profit created a brand that was formed from the passion of peoples hearts and minds. This is ideal because they have built loyalty in mutual benefits rather than generating an organization based off of money and donations. The main goal for this organization is to try to inspire people to engage, rather than pressure people to contribute. The genuine efforts fueling this cause are a prominent factor in what makes it so easy to become apart of. Water is a necessity that many Americans could never imagine not having easy access to. The mission statement they have committed themselves to is the need to travel the world to find inspiring organizations who are providing long-lasting water and sanitation services, and then we fund their most successful programs. The goal isn't just to get water flowing, but to make sure it flows for many years (Our).
Through the use of time, mutual benefits, inspiring testimonials. They use the power of inspirational content via the passionate people to evoke the audience or contributors. The different methods of connecting with their audience are what make charity water a stand out non profit amongst the many others. There “Donate Your Birthday” campaign is a brilliant selfless way to contribute to a cause that is genuinely good. The purpose of this is the appeal to those who aren’t fond of celebrating there Birthdays over and over. They allow you to pledge your birthday so if a friend wanted to get you a gift to celebrate, they can visit your campaign page and they can instead send donations to the Charity Water foundation and from there change millions of lives (Clean). Celebrities like Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and Justin Bieber are among the thousands who have participated in the “Donate your birthday” cause. A simple effort that tremendously effects people in need appeals to every walk of life. The celebrity appeal is also a huge benefitting factor on the success of this particular organization. Overall, the organization has raised over $40 million as of January 15, 2012.
