I did not enjoy the course. My experience with it was not worth the amount of time I had to devote to it. In order to do the work for this course, I had to take time away from my other classes.
I feel that I did not learn much from this course. I learned weekly news, but I am not fond of the news because it is always negative and depressing. I learned about social media sites/apps, but I did not care to learn about the factual information about these sites/apps. I use these sites/apps daily, so I was rather unenthused when we were learning about Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
I found coordinating with five other people without ever meeting them was difficult. Each person had a schedule that may have conflicted with our schedules, and trying to communicate with one another over the internet was difficult as well. At times, I felt that our group could have had better discussions if we were not communicating via the web. In addition to that, I felt that at times it was hard to convey our ideas with just words. My main grievance with the course was working as a group.
I do not feel that I will benefit from the course in the future at all. I feel that the course was mediocre. There was nothing that I “learned” from this course will transfer over to any of my future courses. I believe that this course was an inadequate excuse for a class. The idea and the concept of the class is good, but in reality, the class is lackluster. If the class was a traditional class, spread out through a full semester that focused on social media then I believe it could be a better course.
