My major is mass communications and honestly I thought I knew almost everything about social media but boy was I wrong! This class has whipped me into shape and helped me grow in more ways than one! The topic of social media and global health caught me off guard initially as I did not see the connection but after expereinceing the course I understand the true element, value and worth of social media in our society today. With a press of a button we have the ability to change the course of history and the wave of a generation. The group work with the Preemptive Love Coalition did that. A group of six students were able to communicate online to deliever over 20 pages of content for an organiazation that serves so many people and so many purposes. This class was bigger than us to be honest. I honestly wish nothing but the best for the Preemptive Love Coalition. I hope they take what the groups have presented and take it to the next level. They deserve nothing but the best and it was an honor to be apart of their movement. This was a difficult course at moments because every one has difficult and different schedules. Everyone has work, school and commutes but it just shows the power of the internet. For example, the Google Doc became our own personal meeting space where we shared ideas and basically built the project to present. That is a beautiful and wonderful thing because years ago that would have never been possible. I thank this class for that. It is all about growth and doing things with purpose. Although it may have gotten hectic at moments but we were albe to grow and build a project from scratch and interact with organizations that had meaningful purposes. The headaches at the end of the day were worth it because we grew from this and gained knowledge.
