In this class, I learned so much about different health issues and great organizations. I really enjoyed the Google Hangouts with all of the different guests, especially Charity Water. Paull Young was so enthusiastic about his mission. I now follow them on Instagram. They by far have the most beautiful pictures. I already knew about Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. before the course so it was easy for me to understand the social network aspect of the class.
The part of the class that was not my favorite was the group project. To have one online was kind of difficult because I did not really know any of my team members. Also, meeting online rather than in person seemed a little hard. For me, it is easier to just meet and work together in person rather than waiting for emails. For an online class, I feel like work should just be for the individual. A lot of people who take online classes do it because they do not have time to meet up on campus or live far off of campus. If anything were to happen with the group where they would have had to meet up, it could cause some difficulties. Face to face interaction is always best in my opinion.
One thing I did get out of the group project was learning more about the World Pediatric Project. It is a great organization that I did not even know about until this class started. I do plan on donating to the organization in the near future and want to keep up with what they are doing. It was great basically learning how much work is put into for-profit and non-profit organizations just so people will feel touched by the cause. The biggest lesson I learned from all of the Google Hangouts was to build relationships with the public. Building relationships with people will keep them interested in the organization and make them feel like their donation mattered.
Overall, I liked the concept of this class. It had some bumps, but I learned a lot.
