I signed up for this class because I am a huge social media user. I have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, even LinkedIn. At the start of this class I was annoyed with the Twitter assignment as well as the Instagram assignment. I didn't think I would be able to tweet or Instagram something interesting and pertaining to class that often without losing interest. I was pleasantly surprised, however, when I realized that these assignments helped me to learn more about the class as well as how quickly they became a part of my daily routine. I loved clicking on the #vcuglobalhealth hashtag and learning what everyone else was buzzing about. I got to see different views on topics, as well as learn about so many organizations everyone was a part of and tweeting great things about.
The organizations talked about in this class are all incredible. I really enjoyed that we were able to focus on one individual organization. I am now a proud donor to World Pediatric Project and have successfully gotten friends and family members involved. I was shocked to learn how little they focus on social media, and in WPP's case, how little time they were able to invest in social media. These ideas my team came up with have helped me in other classes, as we are doing business consulting for profit organizations.
I enjoyed the Google Hangouts and was impressed with how willing these organizations and people involved were willing to talk to students. It isn’t every day businessmen and women are willing to take personal time out of their hectic and busy schedules to answer college students’ many questions. I was impressed with how far they have come within their organization.
The lectures were very engaging and I learned so much that I was able to use towards our project. There were a few technical problems on the Google Hangouts that could be easily fixed as well as some problems posting on the old discussion forum. Other than that, I enjoyed this class.
