UNICEF is a huge non-profit organization that stands for United Nations Children’s Fund. This organization was formed in 1946 to provide food and health care to children that were affected during World War II. This organization helps children against poverty, violence, and disease. UNICEF relies on government and private donors for their money and support. This organization is currently in 191 countries throughout the world. In 2008 the total income was around three billion dollars, and 91 % of that goes to the organization, and besides private investors the other donations came from six million people. UNICEF is also on all of the social media networks and they put time and effort into making them very presentable and easy to find things.
Vine is also very successful for advertising this organization because they have a few different hashtags they use like #bringbackourgirls and #vaccineswork. I really like what they do with their vine account because it shows short videos that are right to the point. Their vine account also has close to 37,000 followers and they recently posted a vine saying that they had just reached 2 million followers on Twitter. Some of their most recent vines show kids drawn on paper getting vaccines against diseases. On UNICEF’s vine page they posted a vine showing that it is national malaria day. According to Jennifer James from Impatientoptamist.com “On World Malaria Day UNICEF shared a creative Vine video that showed a mosquito protesting bed nets outside its offices”. Vine is heavily used throughout this organization to spread awareness and it shows the viewer everything they need to know in only six seconds. UNICEF is also known for its Trick or Treat on Halloween night, which the children go around collecting money instead of candy. According to Bethkanker.org “Every year, Unicef USA holds a large Halloween event where trick or treaters are enlisted to raise money for the charity whilst on their candy-fuelled escapades. They make Instagram and vine posts about this event every year.
This company does a lot of good for children around the world, and they are currently focused on the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. They are currently sending out text messages, phone calls, and going door to door to tell people about life saving information for the virus. This along with Smile Train has a big following and is doing the most it can for the rest of the world.
