It’s been a long six weeks, yet will worth it! During the short course I feel I have learned a great amount from my peers and professors. Like many things we take on during our studies this course did present a challenge to me. While being a broadcast journalism major I felt I would not take away anything from this course but I did. Lessons that I hope will come in handy in the future.
It was a big help working in groups for most of this course, I felt like my group worked will bouncing ideas back and forth to each other and coming up with one cohesive focus for our campaign. I learned so much about social media techniques in general that I now think about all the time when I see ads and promo post. I find myself trying to break it down to see where they could have did more and what can I learn from this.
My biggest challenge was definitely campaigning and coming up with strategic ideas, which is interesting because in my field TV news stations are constantly on twitter and Facebook promoting their shows. This helped me focus on my audience and really figuring out who your audience is. Whether it’s college freshman or the 80 year-old women in Chesterfield it’s important to produce content that will connect each individual. That is the biggest lesson I will take from this course and hopefully I will be able to use the things I learned in the future. And I while I don’t think I will be writing campaigns for anyone in the near future I will be on social media for other course so it will be fun sharing what I learned with my classmates.
