This course has definitely exposed to me to the flexibility of my personal social media accounts. I’ve never been an avid user of twitter, but through my engagement with this course I’ve gained a very diverse following from the healthcare sector. I enjoyed the Google Hangouts with our clients prior to beginning our campaigns; it helped tremendously in providing understanding for the overall objective the organization. It’d be great if these chats were still available after the course had ended. They really allowed us to hear the challenges that are faced by non-profit organizations and helped in guiding our strategies and tactics. It also benefited me having to research other nonprofit organizations and discuss their social media strategies, some of which we were able to incorporate into our recommendations.
I was so fortunate to have a solid team throughout this entire course. We picked up each other’ slack and made sure that we stayed in communication on our Facebook group. This was a new experience for me and definitely posed a challenge to the way we have traditionally worked on group projects in the past. Though we all had our difficult weeks, I greatly appreciated how the course allowed for a minor hiccup one week.
This course has allowed me to think of social media in a more strategic way than ever before, not only in terms of awareness but building upon that awareness to foster deeper relationships with audiences, that will compel them to support and donate the great work these non-profit organizations do on a daily basis. Also how important it is to already have an existing presence on your platforms on which you can build those relationships. By using these platforms as a vehicle for these non-profits to tell the stories of the impact they are making around the globe.
