My overall experience with this online class was not as pleasant as I would have liked it to be. I learned a lot about non profit organizations that I never knew existed, which I very much enjoyed. I also learned a lot about what was current in the news, which is something I have not done in a while due to not watching cable television. I was lucky to already understand how to create a strategy and advertising campaign, so the overall group project wasn’t completely awful, but it was definitely a lot more confusing than it should have been. The multiple websites for the class was very confusing as well. I was constantly searching for links to each of the sites. I’ve taken two other online classes prior to this one and they only used blackboard. If this course used blackboard rather than ram pages and the other two discussion sites it would have been way less confusing for everyone.
Honestly having a group project for an online class was the most challenging part of the course. Posting on Instagram and twitter was one thing, but having to contact people I have never met and coordinate schedules was extremely difficult. One of my group members had to commute from two hours away, so I felt horrible for asking him to make time out of his week to drive all the way to campus. My group managed to complete the project regardless of these difficulties though, so I’m at least grateful for that.
I benefitted from this class mostly from learning about the non-profits. I am definitely more interested in volunteering or at least sharing their stories on social media to help spread awareness about them when I can. I also learned how to use the Google hangouts as well. My group used that a few times to do our reflections.
