When I first started this class, I knew next to nothing about social media when it came to using it for something aside for personal accounts. I am SO glad that I took this class because, as a marketing major, I have realized how important the usage of social media is for businesses everywhere. It is especially essential for non-profits, because when you consider their limited budgets, social media is an awesome way to help advertise and connect with other companies for almost no cost at all. I learned a lot about how to create a social media strategy and how to execute it. This class helped me find many different ways to measure effectiveness of a social media campaign, something that social media managers often find to be elusive. In the future, I plan to recommend social media to any and all companies I work for, because in our society, we are rapidly depending on technology and mixed media to get our messages, and social media is such an important part of this. Almost everyone relies on social to get their updates and news, and it is important to be one of the voices that people hear when they check their platforms. One thing that I struggled with in this course (like many other courses) was group participation. I found it was very hard to get my group together to work on things in tandem, especially since this class never met in person and was a class where you did everything online. Despite that, I felt that once we pushed through and persevered, we were able to get a good strategy for our non-profit. I would recommend this class to anyone who is looking for a great elective. This was one of the best learning experiences I’ve had in an elective class ever. Thanks again for such a wonderful time!!
