This course was a bit more than I expected. One thing that I found difficult was finding Profit and Non-Profit organizations and being able to find articles and information about them that relates to social media. The research would be one of my challenges. After a while found out that I would have to dig deep into the internet in order to find information and articles. I have started getting better at not just looking in the main first couple searches for information I need but actually doing hard research in order to find the things I need. I learned a lot about Non-Profit organizations as a whole. I didn’t know much about them at first other than the general information about any non-profit but I was able to learn more about what certain non-profits aim for and how they get started as well as why certain organizations focus on certain social media platforms. I also learned how organizations make certain social media platforms work for them. When I think of Non-profit organizations I always think about just ads that really have no thought and how they just use social media just to get the name out there. It seemed before I got into this class that Organizations would use social media for strictly publicity purposes only and not for what social media is actually used for and that’s connecting with your audience. Then I learned that a lot of nonprofit organizations actually use social media to get in touch with their audience and create connections with people as well as tell stories about the families and individuals they help. The personal touch that some organizations bring to social media is interesting because it shows how personally engaged the company is. After being in this course I have been more interested in helping no profit organizations.
