Overall I had a very good experience in this course. I enjoyed using Twitter and Instagram in this course to help promote my team’s nonprofit organization. For starters the team I was assigned to was extremely easy to work with, which made working on our group projects easier than I was expecting. We all had really stressful weeks, but we all almost always put in our all for our projects. I also enjoyed The Google hangouts. They were new to me and cool because we got to communicate with established nonprofit representatives on Twitter. This was all while we were watching them talk in real time. After hearing them talk, we would summarize their social media platforms and include our own suggestions as well. We dealt with actually active social networking platforms. I love how this made an online course feel so hands on.
One of the things I learned from this class was that not every non-profit organization is as successful as others. I never really thought about it before until I started comparing “World Pediatric Project” to other non-profit organizations as the class went on. I learned that you should build relationships with audiences on social media before you ask for money. I agree, if people are willing to spend money on an organization they should feel like they are apart of the organizations family. The challenging part of this course was facilitating online group work and posting content daily. It definitely kept me on my feet and consistently engaged in the course. I was always looking up news on social media and health care. The course has taught me to be wearier of current health events present in social media, like Ebola. This course experience will benefit me in the future as a creative advertising student.
