When I first sign up for this class I did not know what to except. During the first week of this class it seem a little bit overwhelming. There were a lot of assignments posted and I had to keep rereading stuff to make sure I understood what was going on. Out of all my classes so far this semester I feel like I spent more time on this class. After the second week, I started to get the hang of this class.
One of the things I learned from this class was that not every non-profit organization is as successful as others. I never really thought about it before until I started comparing organizations such as “Preemptive Love Coalition” and “World Pediatric Project” to other non-profit organizations as the class went on. I also learned that you should build relationships with audiences on social media before you ask for money. I agree, if people are willing to spend money on an organization they should feel like they are apart of the organizations family.
One of the benefits of this class was watching the Google Hangout videos. Listening to the speakers talk about the non-profit organization that they were with helped me along the way. Also the readings were helpful. I learned about Ebola from this class and other things that were changing in the world. The Facebook page was also helpful when it came time to ask questions. I was very pleased with how fast you guys responded to us.
The most challenging part of this class was the group project. It was hard to get everybody in the group together to talk about the assignment. We never had a group meeting. We have a group Facebook page where we communicated with each other. It was stressful to work on this group project with this class being an online class. Also completing the discussions on Thursday was challenging. I felt like it was too much of a rush to complete it in time. I would have preferred if the discussions were due on Friday. Overall, this class was interesting and I am glad that I took it.
