Fundraising Strategy:
Team 16 thought it would be beneficial if followers got the chance to ask PLC doctors and patients questions through a Live Google Hangout Event. The Hangout Event with a doctor and a patient would be an interactive way to promote the brand and the idea of emerging technologies in healthcare. The Google Hangout Event would require a minimum $1 donation to watch live and also be our primary way of gaining donations. We all would live tweet during the Google Hangout and do an “Ask Me Anything” type scenario similar to Reddit using the hashtag #WhyILOVE through the use of the Hangout. Our multimedia component would come into effect with PLC’s followers on Instagram. During the hangout, followers would post handmade cut paper hearts, filled with handwritten facts about hearts, why you love your heart, facts about Iraq, or you could do your own research and write about a certain patient of PLC. Followers would share these Instagram posts with the hashtag #loveandpeace. While observing these shared Instagram photos, each picture of a homemade heart would also include the hashtag #DonatePLC to boost donations.
The Hangout would last up to two hours and have “Reveal” segments every 30 minutes giving participants/viewers four chances to win various prize packs of gear from Preemptive Love Coalition. Winners will be chosen at random, strictly through posts shared by users on Instagram who have included the hashtags #loveandpeace and #DonatePLC. The drive for this participation would be in the amount of posts, as there would be no limit to how many you contributed for the cause. So, the more donation posts with the hashtags, the more actual donations.
Twitter will be used strictly for asking questions to the doctor and patient (Using #WhyILOVE).
Facebook will be used prior, during and after the event to boost crowd hype, starting with an interactive countdown one week ahead of the Hangout. The countdown would include a link to a preset pair up where once clicked, users would be matched with one of four random patients in Iraq. Each patient would have a brief profile that includes photos, likes and interests (kind of like mini Facebook’s of their own). Throughout the week, more and more information (ranging from fun to serious) would be revealed about each patient based on the random selection a user received. At the end of the week, a Facebook page status update two hours before would reveal the name of one of the four patients that would actually be a part of the live Hangout that day (along with a doctor of Preemptive Love Coalition).
Duties:
Sam will help organize profiles of the four patients and gather background information on them, as well as monitor the Twitter feed for questions highlighting the hashtag #WhyILOVE.
Colby will observe the current success of Preemptive Love Coalition’s Facebook page. By looking at this, he can get an overview of the total amount of audience reach possible for the weeklong event leading up to the live Google Hangout.
Megan will operate the Instagram account and track the amount of participants sending in personal photos of hearts that also incorporate the hashtags #loveandpeace and #DonatePLC. While she will also be in charge at finalizing the winner of the prize pack, she’ll also post a final photo collage of all entries to the Facebook page.
Zack and Alexis will continue to communicate with group members and also assist in tracking donations that come in through the success of the #DonatePLC hashtag. They will also provide help in seeting up the live Google Hangout on YouTube.
Multimedia Component:
Followers would post to Instagram handmade cut paper hearts that would be blank and you would write facts about hearts, why you love your heart, facts about Iraq, or you could do your own research and write about a certain PLC patient provided on the PLC facebook page. At the bottom of the cut out, the follower would write @preemptivelove Instagram tag to make sure followers go to that platform first. People would make the heart cutout themselves so each one would be different. These posts could be done at anytime, any day, but to be able to participate in the Google Hangout prize raffle, you would need to post within the 2 hour time frame, with the hashtag #DonatePLC.
