Preemptive Love Coalition really wants to focus on their supporters by reaching out through the social media network Instagram. Our final fundraising event will be called #CoinsforCoalition.
We came up with the idea through an Instagram inspirational campaign, #FivefortheOceans. For this fundraiser, we will ask local companies in the area to donate up to $5 for every #CoinsforCoalition hashtag used on Instagram. We will then ask supporters and friends to take a picture of something they value most in life, using the hashtag. We chose the picture subject because a life is precious, and the lives that Preemptive Love Coalition are saving are very valuable. One would take a picture of treasured family heirloom or their dog- for example, then use the hashtag #CoinsforCoalition. The more people we are able to partake in this Instagram fundraiser, the more money that will be donated to the cause. We believe this fundraiser will be very successful in bringing both awareness and donations to the Preemptive Love Coalition. Like most social media fundraising projects, as people complete this and use the hashtag, their friends will see and hopefully follow suit- bringing in even more donations and supporters. By leaving the maximum to $5 it leaves room for people to donate whatever they can. We understand that not everyone can afford to give out money but everyone can afford to help a cause. A picture or a penny could go a long way in helping save lives.
For the multimedia portion of this project, each group member has been using pictures from the Preemptive Love Coalition’s website , and posting and sharing updates on their social media platforms- such as Twitter and Instagram. The pictures and post have been breath-taking and have skyrocketed the social media buzz. The group members have received text messages, phone calls and direct messages about Preemptive Love Coalition. By doing so, we are able to spread the word on this amazing organization. Our friends and followers are able to see posts about the Preemptive Love Coalition, and hopefully gain an interest and help their cause as well.
We are in hopes that the #CoinsforCoalition campaign will be able to put the Preemptive Love Coalition in the same lane of growth but in a new direction. By asking for donations up to five dollars it allows for everyone to help out the cause no matter the persons’ age, background or bank account. Everyone has something that they treasure and Preemptive Love Coalition wants to make sure that the lives that we all touch are treasured one step at a time.
Even with the five dollar donation amount per hashtag being the minimum we would shoot for with these local companies, more generous donations are welcomed who those who really want to put forth the extra effort in supporting the Preemptive Love Coalition. In correlation with the donation per hashtag idea, I thought of something else that could be a beneficial idea even if we do not decide to go with it in the long run. We would go around to local shops around Richmond primarily in the Carytown area since things are so condensed and it would be easy to cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time. While doing this, we would go into the shops and make a proposal that one Friday or Saturday a percentage of sales would go to the Preemptive Love Coalition cause. In return, we would make flyers and other advertisements to get the word out about that shop and promote them in order to not only drive business in on that day but for an extended time period to come. I think this would be a solid business deal for both sides if we decided to go with it, but the #CoinsforCoalition campaign is definitely a strong one worth putting the time in to as well.
