Susan G Komen is a great non profit company that is making a lot of inspirational changes in women's life whom have breast cancer. Currently, the Susan G Komen foundation is doing very well in terms of fundraising techniques. The Susan G Komen foundation uses a vast amount of fundraising techniques throughout the year. Because of the success of the Susan G Komen fundraising strategies, they have received many awards that recognize their achievements. I read an article concerning the Susan G Komen foundation, that went over a the gold award in which the foundation received. The Susan G Komen foundation created a fundraiser that was only email based. The fundraisers purpose was to motivate runners to donate whom participated in a very popular event. Furthermore, even though the fundraiser was merely email based, the Susan G Komen foundation ended up having a very good turn out for the fundraiser. The Susan G Komen Company has had a lot of fundraising success because they work hard to get the word out to the right people, at a good time, and make people feel as if they are really making a difference.
Sarah Milton had a lot of great ideas concerning making a fundraiser efficient. One thing that stood out to me most was the concept of having easy access to donate money. In todays age, a lot of people are accustomed to fast processes. Most of the time people don't like to read the fine print, they want the easiest and possible way in order to accomplish a task. The donate money button is a great method that serves as a successful tool for a fundraising technique. The donate button allows people to donate money quick and easy as well as get the attention of others.
Another great fundraising technique I learned from the google handouts was the concept of having challenges in a fundraiser. For example the Ice Bucket Challenge was very effective because it was different, it got a lot of peoples attention, it was fun and entertaining to watch, and it made people want to learn more about why everyone was having ice dumped on them. All of these effects of the Ice Bucket Challenge are examples of fundraising success. Not to mention, having challenges are very interactive which allows people to feel like they are involved in making change.
