The organization that I've decided to investigate the assignment this week is the Ronald McDonald House Charity. On the homepage website the nonprofit claims its mission is to "ease the hardship of children’s illness on families through programs that help children heal faster, cope better, and stay healthy." They also narrow down and explain what their core values are as well. The first core value listed is to focus on the critical needs of children. the second is to celebrate the diversity the programs they offer and the staff, volunteers and donors who make them possible. The next is to remain true to their heritage of responsible stewardship. And finally, the last is for them to operate with accountability and transparency. Their vision is stated as follows: "We believe that when you change a child’s life, you change a family’s, which can change a community, and ultimately the world."
The donation page on the website, (http://www.rmhcdc.org/ways-to-help-2/donateto me), seems to be a contributing factor in all of the successesses they've managed to have so far in fundraising, the only issue I had was actually locating the page itself. I found it at the very bottom of the webpage and it was in extremely small text as well. However, the donation webpage is very nicely done. The "donate now" button is right at the top of the page and in very large text formatting. on the page, they mention where the money is going to, how much of the money you donate helps, and they also explain how people can maximize their donations and even explain how the money donated is tax deductible.
When doing my research on the Ronald Mcdonald House, I came across this article (http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20130226/NEWS07/130229798?template=mobile) which described a somewhat recent dilemma that the nonprofit had got itself into. Basically, the organization was suing a Canadian company for botching a fundraising effort. They were trying to sue the company for around 1.1 million dollars so that they could get their money back from any losses caused from the failed fundraising effort. This was one of the only things I could find that really stood out as a fundraising failure.
