The Livestrong foundation is known for “fighting to improve the cancer experience and make cancer a priority.” Their fundraising efforts have been very successful in raising money for those with cancer. Live Strong has many was to how they fundraise for their own cause. Of course, the first was the rubber LIVESTRONG bracelets everyone decided was very cool to wear – especially all at once.
The fundraising collateral was just a yellow, rubber slip-on bracelet that read “LIVESTRONG”. Quickly, this campaign and fundraising became successful after these bracelets were launched in May 2004. This campaign was also celebrity induced in that, cancer survivor; Lance Armstrong was the chairman as well as the founder of the Livestrong foundation.
After the yellow, rubber bracelets were introduced the fundraising efforts expanded as other organization found out that the rubber bracelet idea was a good one to follow in fundraising for their own organization. The Livestrong foundation also incorporates a lot fundraising through their online site. They provide a lot of information on fundraising and how to be successful in your efforts to raise money for your organization. LiveStrong also has various events included with their fundraising efforts. This allows their foundation to fundraise but also market their organization to that audience. What I believed to be really cool is the way the Livestrong foundation presented their fundraising financials in how this money is handled. The information regarding their financial was easily readable and no hard to access. This foundation has “raised over $580 million for the fight against cancer [and] in 2013, 81 percent dollar raised went to [directly supporting cancer survivors and their loved ones], totaling $27,878,892.” According to the Livestrong website. The effect they have with their audience is also a very impactful one. They hold many events and in turn with fundraising the organization gets to interact directly with many of their sole supporters.
I think this is very important in the role that Livestrong plays in the community. Their fundraising efforts have made the organization very successful and as they continue their efforts to support those dealing with cancer, I hope they are able to retain their success’s in any future fundraising efforts.
