World Vision has some impressive numbers associated with their company.
With 1,050,358 facebook likes and 340,513 twitter followers they have created a wealth of supporters of their organization. The work they do is across many issues and integrates lasting solutions to the root causes of poverty.
4.3 million children are benefitting from sponsorship and this is in 1,650 communities.
World Vision decided to add even more investment into their social media and use Brandwatch to boost their global development. What Brandwatch allows World Vision to do is to track and analyze millions of online convos across social media.
World Vision had a Global Week of Action which brought in leaders and displayed how to accelerate action for their causes. “More than 2.2 million people in 80 countries came together through 5,609 public events, with over 200 million more being reached through traditional and social media. This work has been reinforced through ongoing policy development and government engagement at the sub- national, regional and global levels, along with citizen empowerment at the
community level.” This is so impressive that such a huge number were involved in their events and causes. The fact that they were able to reach this many people shows they have done a good job at finding supporters who want to stay and spread the word of their organization/their mission. With the momentum of the Global Week of Action they kept running with this and on Sunday May 5, they continued the ‘survive 5’ which was to draw attention to mortality of those under the age of 5 and this demonstrated how popular mobilization is now well understood by World Vision.
