For our refection this week our group decided that we should focus on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and a group called HONY. The focus on Facebook is a very big deal because Facebook is one of the largest social media networks out there today, alongside with twitter. Social Media is an excellent tool in bridging the gap of concrete participation because of it demands interaction on behalf of both parties. Instagram is instant, Since Facebook bought out the company in 2012, and the app has shifted towards being less exclusive and a lot more mainstream.
We as a group put Diana Digangi in charge of the Facebook strategy. We noticed that this organization has a big following on Facebook, and they even post pictures of people that are being helped, or the people that are helping them. They also tie in a direct quote that makes that picture a little bit more touching than it already is. They also need to keep posting daily articles, pictures, stories, etc. just to keep the viewer interested in the organization. This will also allow them to grow and expand very quickly.
Our Instagram campaign will be run by me and Caelon Reed. We noticed that the Instagram account has only a few followers. We need to get that number way higher so we came up with a few hashtags like #WPPVCU #WPPHEALACHILD. Having a hashtag and spreading it will allow them to gain followers, and we also said that they should upload their Instagram photos to Facebook as well, so all the followers on Facebook can see the photos’.
The twitter campaign will be run by Vu Nguyen and Sylvia jones. As you have probably noticed the Twitter page could definitely use some help. The first thing we thought of we a separate hashtag just for Twitter and that was #NESTACHILD. We also noticed that they don’t tweet as much as they should. The last time they tweeted was almost a week ago; they need to be tweeting at least 3 times a day. Also with a few holidays approaching they should come up with special categories just for Halloween, thanksgiving, and Christmas; that will make a child happy.
We as a group also decided to focus on a book from New York called HONY which is a Humans of New York. This book consists of over 6000 portraits of people from New York. A book like this could be made about the children from The World Pediatric project. They could take a picture and document ever child that they help, and also selling these books could also help raise more money for the organization. This would not only raise awareness, but send a good message to the public.
