Our Goal: Our team wants to improve Preemptive Love Coalition’s social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Pinterest. We want to show the world how children in Iraq are affected by the continued warfare of the Middle East. We want people to know Iraq needs your help not just with donations but with spreading the word about the children needing surgery. The strategy is to create the image of children lying in a hospital bed suffering from a disease transform into children who have been healed by these surgeries.

For Facebook we want people to be connected to Preemptive Love Coalition. This is a good way to educate people that there are children who are born with heart defects and provide them with what they can do to help. They should post what their wishes are for the organization. We want them to know that they can help out by donating money to the cause. Preemptive Love Coalition should send out notifications everyday about donating money. “Donating=#surgery4achild”. Maybe even suggest a certain amount of money people should donate. Also, they should use hashtags in the post since hashtags are popular and it lets people see what the subject is about.
Suggestion: I was thinking what if they come up with an app game? People love playing games on their phone, iPad, and laptop. The game would be about saving a child’s life. There would be a person trying to deliver the money to the hospital but there are challenges throughout the game and so many levels you have to complete. At the end of the game the hospital receives the money and a surgery is given to the patient. This is just a suggestion that came to mind. It is something I haven’t heard anyone else do. I don’t know how realistic this would be for the company, but this would make them stand out more compare to other organizations.

On the YouTube platform we believe that Preemptive Love should engage with the community. We want to focus on what the community knows about the Middle East, and then go into more information about ways our community can affect the circumstances over in Iraq. I would also like to present the scope over how children are being affected by the situation in Iraq and how Preemptive Love is helping to provide these children with the services that they need. Visually, I believe it is important to present the knowledge, or lack thereof, that our peers and people in our community possess about international problems. More specifically we want to focus on the current situation the children in Iraq are facing. I plan to engage with students, teachers and community members to get the content and engagement I feel is necessary to help impact Preemptive Love Coalition.
Instagram: (Kara Herring & Tyler Thrasher)
The Instagram platform is a great way for Preemptive love to utilize not only visual images but videos as well. We plan to integrate some new hash tags as well as videos in order to enhance this platform as well as take it to another level. The two newer hash tags I would like to see used are #saveme and #lifesaver. These two hash tags can take the visuals above and beyond the levels of other non-profit organizations. We plan on using the hash tag #saveme to promote a child that needs a surgery. These hash tags can draw attention to children that need donations to get live saving surgery. On the other hand the hash tag #lifesaver is used to promote the people who have donated money to the organization for these lifesaving surgeries.
The strengths of the Instagram site are the pictures that are utilized by Preemptive Love. Unlike other nonprofits they are able to use actually in the field pictures. Most of the pictures that are on the Instagram platform are children, which is a very effective strategy. They are able to convey not only the surgeries they perform for these kids but the community as a whole as well. Another strength is the use of the hash tags #wearen and #iraq with this hash tags the photos that are used are able to be shared with the Middle Eastern community.
Some weaknesses of the Instagram are utilization of newer hash tags, promotion through video, and the frequency of posting. It would be nice to get at least one picture a day through the Instagram handle that way the public can keep up with that the organization is doing. Another big part of Instagram that isn’t taken advantage of is the videos. We plan on introducing a concept of basic motivation for the videos. Like a 15 second story of a survivor or someone in fear of going through the surgery, a before and after time lapse, a montage of different pictures with inspiring music in the background. Anything can be made with the use of the video, it’s just about how seamlessly transitioned it can be.
Pinterest: (Niema Eaves)
For the social media strategy for Pinterest I think we should focus on posting a lot of different material and updates that not only deal with Iraq, but bringing together all the different cultures of the Middle East. Our goal is to use images to portray children that are healed and happy post-surgery; not to solely focus on the negative images of children grieving from a disease. The good thing about Pinterest is that it not only serves as a collection of strong visual tools, but users can share pins based on common opinions and positions. I think with all of these things in mind we can diversify the Pinterest to change the outlook and what people actually know about the Middle East.
Some strengths that are on Pinterest for the Preemptive Love Organization are inspiring, informing, and optimistic pins. There are multiple images of not only things dealing with the organization but other images as well. As far as ones dealing with the organization they illustrate a lot of images about helping children who suffer from this disease (both happy and sad images). This has somewhat of a before and after affect because there are images that make the audience feel empathetic. Then there images that make one feel hopeful because the children seem to be happy with life. These are all great ways in positioning a good impression on the organization as a whole.
Some things that I think they could improve on are providing more info graphics. I think this a strong tool to use because it condenses large amounts of information into more engaging images and it finds simple ways to paint a big picture. This provides the public with ways to learn about all of what it has to offer, its initiatives, where the money goes, how to donate, etc. However, with info graphics everything is broken down to make it easier to understand so this should definitely be taken advantage more. Another factor that can be improved upon would be adding more quotes that are inspiring as well. Preemptive love could make an entire board of inspiring quotes, which could be seen in the main quotes tab that appeals to a bigger audience.

The hashtag #surgery4achild is our way of contributing to spreading the word for Preemptive Love Coalition through social media handles. My idea for improving or spreading the word is to send a group of volunteers from a college or colleges interested in being a part of Preemptive Love Coalition and being kind of a support system for those children that have to go through surgery. Not saying that their parents won’t be there, but there may be a child that may be without a simple friend. Of course the goal is to spread the word, but donations are a focus as well. By colleges promoting their involvement with the organizations I believe sponsors will follow; whether it comes from alumni or different extracurricular clubs. I believe #surgery4achild will have a positive effect on communicating internationally on the importance of surgery for these kids that are born with heart defects. #iheartyou #surgery4achild
