The Make a Wish Foundation is one of the most well-known nonprofit organizations in the health care today. It was established in the 1980’s and has been going strong since. Their mission is to grant a wish that a terminally ill child giving them hope to fight. Now, in 2013, more than 226,000 in the United States have benefited from the hope, strength and joy of experiencing their one heartfelt wish Make A Wish. The wishes granted by the foundation isn’t limited to one specific event. The Wishes range from Going to Disney Land or Meeting their favorite celebrity or sports athlete.
Make A Wish uses all the visual engagement strategies however, I feel the use of You Tube is the most prominent. You Tube allows Make A Wish to spread each individual story. Social media has been growing rapidly in the recent years allowing the use of video to engage their audience. A video of Beyonce, Beyonce Video serenading a 12 year old girl with a rare type of bone cancer during her tour has over 135,000 views and growing! You Tube is a great platform to give the Make A Wish foundation a way to spread the awareness of the many rare diseases and how much of an impact the foundation makes on the children. Individual stories is not the only way Make A wish uses You Tube. They also use events like races to gain awareness. In the article Stars Wars Run Article, Make A Wish successfully raised over $100,000 from over 400 runners for the Make-A-Wish Foundation last year alone and plans to do another Star Wars run in San Diego. The coverage of the 2014 FIFA in Brazil was worldwide not only on television but also You Tube. Make A Wish also has an international presence. In the articleMake A Wish FIFA, Make A Wish sent 50 children to the FIFA world cup to fulfill their lifelong dream, being able to cheer in the stands. The 2014 World Cup is one of the largest international wish-granting endeavors in the history of Make-A-Wish. Make A Wish used You Tube to show behind the scenes of the children’s trip to Brazil. This really allows the audience to see the true emotion of the children when they see their dreams come true. The ability to watch each child’s personal stories make a greater impact than pictures. I think You Tube is a great resource for all nonprofits organizations.

I think the Make-A-Wish foundation made a fantastic and generous move by sending all of those kids to Brazil. The World Cup is one of the largest sporting events in the world and the fact that they used their funds to sent FIFTY children is incredible. I like that they utilized YouTube to show footage of the kids' journey is a smart PR move because it inspires others to donate to their campaign. I agree with you that YouTube is a great resource because their channels can reach millions of people and attracts lots of attention as it creates a "buzz" among the public.

I agree that YouTube is a great platform (if not the best) for the Make A Wish Foundation. I also almost wrote about the Make-A-Wish Foundation because I remember Beyoncé singing to that little girl and the video going viral had a great positive effect for the organization and made the foundation a household name. The videos impact is profound because we can visually see Beyoncé singing and the little girl's reaction to her wish coming true. This sparks warmth in the hearts of those watching and wanting to donate and participate in the foundation.

I agree with you when you stated that "Make A Wish uses all the visual engagement strategies however, I feel the use of You Tube is the most prominent. You Tube allows Make A Wish to spread each individual story. Social media has been growing rapidly in the recent years allowing the use of video to engage their audience." You do see a lot of their promotions and content all over the web these days, and they host many national projects to help people with cancer- it is a very well, widely known organization.

I love the fact that you chose the Make A Wish Foundation. They are an amazing non-profit organization and the fact that make many individuals' dreams come true that they may not have had the chance to do is amazing. I also like the fact they use YouTube as a social media platform to capture their audience's attention. Videos are a great way to show how the foundation connects with the people they are trying connect with.

I've always liked the Make A Wish Foundation and have been a fan of them. I agree that youtube is there most popular source of PR. Maybe one day in the future it will be IG or twitter, but since maybe people go on youtube daily they're exposed to more ads rather than twitter and IG. Also IG and Twitter are more picture based even though they do have videos. A picture does say a thousand words but when you see an HD video of those kids who's wishes are coming true you can't help but to feel great and happy inside, especially if you have donated.

I really like The Make A Wish Foundation and I think that YouTube has definitely been a great tool for engaging the public with all the great things they do. It's amazing how much social media platforms can help raise donations and show the world what they're doing to make a difference. I would say that The Make A Wish foundation is among the top three non-profits I see the most on social media. The videos are heartwarming and make people aware of their cause whether they donate or not due to the consistent engagement of publics sharing their videos and personal stories made available through social media.

I too thought that the Make a Wish foundation Youtube page was very well done. So much so that it was also my choice for the discussion post. You are correct in stating that Make a Wish has international appeal which is something that I did not cover in my post. The World Cup is the most highly viewed sporting event in the world and by sending children to watch it is very good for exposure. Their Youtube account makes it very easy for other people to see exactly what the Make a Wish foundation does.

I always say, having a celebrity help promote an organization is a great campaign strategy. I think you did a great job on your post in terms of providing a lot of detailed information about Make a Wish Foundation as well as how they are performing in the social media world. Because Make a Wish Foundation has been established for a long time, I believe it is easier for them to receive supporters. Make a Wish foundation is a very well known charity. I think that the run Make a Wish has in San Diego is a great way to raise money. Health and wellness are smart ways to promote campaigns. Furthermore, from social media, to celebrity supporters, to famous runs, to sending children to Brazil, Make a Wish Foundation goes over and beyond in the charity business.
