Make-A-Wish foundation uses the top social networks to spread their word out to the world. There’s an instagram account for almost every country in the world for the organization. The pictures that are posted show what the kid has wished for and information is given about the patient as well. The good thing about the multiple accounts is that for every country the main language is written on the picture, so everyone can understand what is said. That gets more people around the world involved. There is also information given out about fundraisers that are coming up.
The number one video sharing network is probably the most effective social network, YouTube. Make-a-wish has their own page on YouTube with kids getting their wishes. It shows people the emotional day when the kid finally gets to meet their favorite person or do their favorite things. The regional Youtube channels that they have set up document the work they do. I think this is an excellent way to not only spread the message but also encourage people to give. Many people might also want to see the video because their favorite celebrity or singer is making the patients’ wish come true. YouTube is great because people don’t have to directly look up the video, it can show up on the popular page or what the will interest you page.
They also have a strong following on Pinterest with nearly four thousand followers. They seemed to have really embraced this medium because they have almost a ton of pins. Like Youtube, I think this is an awesome to get your message out while showing people concrete evidence of what you've done and what you will continue to do. Not only do they show pictures of the successful wishes they've granted to countless children, but they also show information in the form graphs and include inspirational quotes
