When it comes to being successful on the social media stage I think Charity Water is a shining example. Charity Water is a non-profit organization started in 2006 after a last wish was from a girl was to raise three hundred dollars to help provide drinking water for those in need.Ever since then the organization has grown into one of the best. What I found interesting is that the Paul Young said that the organization does not spend any of the money or advertisement or marketing which makes their social media presence a must to spread their message effectively. Before I went to look at some of their social media sites I reflected on the fact that to be the organization that they are they must have a very effective social media platform. As a non-profit organization being successful on a social media platform can be tricky seeing as how most people use it for entertainment so I was skeptical on how they could have transformed into such a success with no help from advertisement. When I arrived at their Instagram page I saw these gorgeous shots. This is the key to their success. Instagram is a visual stage and Charity Water has used it perfectly. The shots were so well composed and lit, or contrast of colors and depth perception, really make for very warming and interesting photos. The page does not come off as a charity page or an organization looking for donations it comes off as a page that is sharing these experiences with the world and that is why they are successful. People on social media especially on Instagram are not looking to be preached to, they are looking for things that intrigue them and that is what these photos do.

The fact that Charity water doesn't spend money on advertising and marketing yet they are still one of the best known non-profit organizations is simply amazing. I think that most, including myself, can agree that their Instagram page is quite impressive. The quality and message behind their photography is what sets them apart from the rest. Also, their motivational videos that state their mission are nice additions to the Instagram platform as they have various types of media on just a single platform. If Charity Water has been this successful with just using social media as their way of communicating with the public then the sky is the limit for this organization.

I was very pleased with this organization. The fact that they have only been around since 2006 and they are a successful organization is wonderful. Other non- profit organizations should take notes from Charity Water. I also find it interesting that they do not spend any money on promoting their organization. This just shows us that social media is powerful and all it takes it “word of mouth” to spread the word around. Their pictures definitely play a part on why they are so successful. They show happy people who are suffering from dirty water. You would think they would show sad people but they don’t. Overall this is one of the best non-profit organizations I have heard of.

It truly is phenomenal how well this organization is able to accomplish what it has while spending no money on advertising and marketing. I agree when you say that their pictures are great visual representations of what they do in that the pictures present viewers with a sort of intriguing story that they can follow along with rather than being dull and overly informative. It is also quite remarkable how well they have translated these photos into stories across their platforms particularly, as you mentioned, Instagram.
