The discussion I chose to write about this week is Charity Water. I first went over to their website to see what they were about. Charity Water is a non-profit organization trying to bring fresh clean water to developing nations. The first thing that stuck out to me was how many people are suffering from not having clean water. Over 800 million people are suffering because they don’t clean water. They don’t have special access to water like we do. They have to carry around fuel of cans to collect clean water and on top of that they have to wait in line for hours to receive clean water. I feel really bad for the children. The amount of time they spend walking to get clean water it keeps them away from an education, working, and taking care of their families. The further away they are from home the more likely they will be harassed.
The second thing that stood out to me was their website store. I notice you can purchase t-shirts, water drop cases, onesies for babies, wallets and more. I think it is a smart idea to sell items that not lonely people need but items that support the cause. This is probably another reason why Charity Water is successful compare to other non-profit organizations we have studied so far. Next I went to their Instagram page and I was surprise and happy to see that they had 227k followers. I like that their Instagram page is very active and shows us what is happening to people around the world. The pictures are colorful and every picture has a meaning behind it. Even with these people not having clean water they were smiling in every picture. I usually see people not smiling in these types of situations. Another thing that stood out to me was the video on their website. I like how detailed the video was it really open my eyes on how bad other people have it compare to our country.
Overall this has been my favorite non-profit organization we have studied so far this semester. It seems to be well-organized compare to the other non-profit organizations we have studied. They definitely got the point across to me. It is hard to not donate to such a great cause. I decided to donate money after seeing what my money would do to help out others. A little bit of money goes a long way.
