The organization I felt stood out most to me was Charity Water. Paul Young gives a unique and great understanding on how and why their organization takes different approaches on growth with their audience. In our Google Hangout, Paul tells how Charity Water seeks to make a connection with their audience via inspiration. Charity Water also provides gps tracking code so that you can follow and see exactly what your donation is contributing towards.
The whole inspiration concept that Paul presents is unique on its own and shows the good natured spirits of the company’s vision. They do not believe in spending money on marketing really or online advertising, nor do they send mail or have banner ads. It’s truly inspiring seeing that the company believes so much in spreading its word through a strong message and the belief that their great audience will inspire others through the content and service they receive. Paul says that ‘word of mouth’ is what will connect with others on a more personal level than any sort of advertisement can, thus why they push it so hard to have people inspire one another. He expresses that Charity Water plans to take their approach in a 3 step method: inspiration, activation, and experience.
Another key component to their success is their effective use of keeping their donators informed on exactly what their contribution is doing. They do a great job providing anyone who donates (no matter how small) the ability to track that donations progress via gps, quality photos and other forms of feedback. Through these efforts people who donate can get a real life experience with what their donations do and how drastically it can help those desperately in need. This sort of engagement provides a personal connection with its supporters showing them just how much of an impact their work does.
I feel Charity Water differs a lot from other non-profits in the sense that they make an effort to show a personal connection. Through this connection they plan to inspire and using that essentially as their marketing base which obviously differs from a variety of different organizations. In my opinion the path they take is a truly admirable and is the reason they do have people who support and thus would help spread via word of mouth. Charity Water really empowers people and gives them that sense that they truly make an everlasting impact which makes a great connection with all.
