The charity that I chose to focus on in Charity Water. Charity water is a very young organization with it being "born" just 8 years ago. It is a non-profit organization whose mission is to bring clean and safe drinking water to developing nations around the world. Being in a country where you have clean drinking water everyday water doesn't seem to be a daily issue that we are concerned about but there are country who do worry about drinking clean water on a regular basis and Charity Water wants to provide just that. If we, the ones in a develop countries, need water we just take a quick walk or drive to get a case or go to the nearest water fountain but people in Africa are not able to have this luxury. They have to walk miles and miles for water. If you take a moment and think about water we need water in just about every aspect of our daily living. Our bodies function off of water and if we don't have good clean water we will not function the way that we need to.
One thing that stood out to me the most about how they market their organization was that they simply use social media and word of mouth. They are a web-based organization. They don't have a budget for marketing like maybe some other organizations do. They do a tremendous amount of fundraising which is how they raise money for the organization. It was very interesting to hear how they began raising money for their organization with a birthday party in September. If someone had a birthday in September they "gave up" their birthday and asked the people around them if they could give them money as a birthday present to donate to the organization. Since then they have moved away from only doing this for September birthdays and have done this during birthdays throughout the year and their followers on Twitter do the same exact thing. They also have a place on their site where you can see exactly where the money is going that is being donated.
