The Wounded Warrior Project keeps its mission plain and simple: To honor and empower Wounded Warriors www.stripes.com/social-media-bridging-gap-between-troubled-vets-and-treatment-1.155937.However, they also go a few steps further and break down this mission by establishing a vision, a purpose, and last but not least a list of core values. The vision is as stated: To foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history. The purpose of the project contains three specific goals. The first goal is, “to raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members.” The second is “to help injured service members aid and assist each other.” The final goal is “to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.” What I found to be particularly interesting was how they managed to get a drawing of a stick figure girl (FILIS) and her five fingers to represent each of their five core values:

The Wounded Warrior Project utilizes Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, LinkedIn, and Pintrest and has been successful in getting the word out about the nonprofits events as this article demonstrates www.wowt.com/home/headlines/Hole-In-One-Good-Fundraiser-For-Wounded-Warriors-275831251.html.For discussion purposes I will be solely concentrating on the nonprofit’s Pintrest social media platform. On the homepage of their Pintrest, I took note that they had 11 boards, 138 Pins, and the thing that stood out to me most-0 likes. They have a pretty strong following at 3,456 and follow about 27 other accounts. The pictures that are featured in each of the Pintrest boards are quite inspirational and effective. I did like the way that they have each of their boards categorized and I felt that they did a great job of making sure that the boards were relevant to the organization. Something that I noted that they could improve upon was the rhythm or pattern in which they pin content. For example, their pinning ranges from about 2-36 pins and some boards are more neglected than others. I find that if they were to regulate and create a rhythmic and strategic plan of pinning at least on item on each board, they can tap into more followers. Also, as I mentioned earlier, the fact that they have not liked any other organizations boards or pinnings could be something that can hold them back from creating relationships with other organizations that could be benefit them.
