Evan Flynn
Blake Mirzayan

Our Mission: With integrity and humility we aim to assist the Preemptive Love Coalition in its effort to eradicate the “backlog” of children in need of lifesaving heart surgery. Our strategy will be to “repaint” the negative connotation that is associated with Iraq here in the western world. We hope to implement our positive message on a variety of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube. It is our hope that in time the world will begin to see Iraq as a peaceful place that is home to quality people. We believe that social media will allow us to connect with the largest audience in the most efficient manner. With truth and humanity at our sides, we hope to witness the world see a brighter image of Iraq in their heads and hearts.
Platforms:
I. Facebook
With Facebook we hope to establish a home for our organization. We intend to create a RepaintIraq page that will house all of our news and information. We intend to post pictures of our efforts as well as pictures of those we intend to help. We believe that a variety of content will help our Facebook page stand out and become a beacon of change in the free world. Blake Mirzayan will be our head of Facebook, and he will maintain and edit all content. In addition to operating this medium, Blake will create a survey consisting of 10 questions that will attempt to illuminate the opinions of the general public pertaining to Iraq and its culture. We imagine these surveys will shed light on why people feel the way they do about Iraq. After the results of this survey are received and analyzed we hope to send the results to Matthew Willingham of Preemptive Love Coalition so he can best use the information to guide his efforts. Facebook will be our flagship medium as we believe Facebook is currently the most significant social media platform.
II. Twitter
With Twitter we hope to constantly update the public as to the latest happenings within RepainIraq and Preemptive Love Coalition. We will strive to reach both the VCU student body as well as local and regional businesses. We imagine that VCU students and staff as well businesses will generate a lot of word of mouth recognition as well as potential donations. We will echo much of Preemptive Love’s content in an effort to reach a larger audience. Also we hope to attract our own followers and forward them to Preemptive Love’s individual account. In order to stimulate the public and gain interest we will provide incentives to potential followers by offering candy to new followers. We will also stimulate our audience by offering a raffle entry to the first 50 followers. One follower will be selected to win a Starbucks Gift Card. Evan Flynn will be our head of Twitter and he will see that these initiatives create “buzz” and greater awareness amongst our followers.
III. Instagram
With Instagram we intend to post photos of the children we seek to help. We also hope to show their families as well as the hospital workers that are working diligently to assist them in Iraq. Photos on Instagram will also include pictures of our own efforts as a team here in Richmond, Virginia. We believe that images speak a thousand words, so we look forward to posting a plethora of images in order to speak volumes. In addition to standard Instagram usage we plan on creating an Instagram Image Competition. We will challenge our users to submit pictures, paintings, or any visual content in order to demonstrate their “view” of Iraq. We expect a variety of submissions and we hope that the greatest submissions can be sent to Iraq so they can hang in these children’s hospitals. We hope that artists and non-artists alike will share in the fun of getting involved with us and the Preemptive Love Coalition. We believe that this contest will not only get our community involved but will provide insight in to the perspectives of western citizens. Lauren Walker with be our head of Instagram, and subsequently she will spearhead this competition as well as all Instagram requirements.
IV. Pinterest
With Pinterst we plan on posting a variety of content pertaining to current events both in Iraq and here in the states. We hope that this information will stimulate our audience to better inform themselves as to the conditions in the middle east. Perhaps this interest will cause them to better understand the true conditions in Iraq. Eric Fisher will be our head of Pinterest, and it will be his job to create and operate our RepaintIraq account. He will strive to find quality publications that will accurately reflect our mission and the Preemptive Love Coalition’s mission. In addition to Pinterest, Tyler will also serve as our groups historian. We hope to compile much of our efforts this semester into print and digital media so classes to come and the general public can appreciate the validity of our mission and the innovative nature of this course itself.
V. YouTube
With YouTube we look forward uploading a capstone video which will include insight from all of our group members regarding are project. We will discuss are game-plan, successes, failures and more. We imagine this video will be a resource to students to come as well as an inspiration to those looking to make change in the world. Tyler Wilkinson will be our head of YouTube and will be responsible creating our channel. In addition to operating our YouTube account Eric will also serve as our videographer. He will collect and organize all of our stills and video content so we can use them in our video. He will also direct our cap stone video later this semester.
VI. Editing
Kurtis Dement will be our editor in chief. He will be tasked with the challenge of overseeing all of our social media platforms. He will focus on the quality of our content. He will strive to ensure that our media output is both professional and appropriate. He will utilize his vast editorial experience as well as his passion for our project in order to elevate our material.
