For our team’s fundraising strategy we came up with a few different ideas that will get us to our ultimate goal of increased awareness, participation and donations. In the future we are recommending that Preemptive Love Coalition to use a crowd funding platform such as gofundme. Gofundme is a good choice for nonprofits and provides a hub for donations from multiple avenues. To increase awareness we would like to partner with a for-profit company to cross promote the cause as well as search for a corporation that could sponsor a matching gift. We thought it was a good idea that whatever organization we decide to partner up with will share the gofundme link to their social media platforms. We would also like to mimic the success of having people donate a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion.
Before we start asking for money we need to educate the community, produce informative content for PLC and build a relationship with their established audience. To help us build relationships locally we see an opportunity to take advantage of the organizations that our group members are already part of, including local businesses, social groups and organizations at VCU. We would like to search for a partner to provide the matching gift we would look towards large businesses in the area such as Dominion Resources, Capitol One and Sun Trust.
To satisfy the multimedia component we agreed on creating vine videos. We will each produce at least one vine video so that we have more exposure and content available. Vine is a great platform for Preemptive Love Coalition to use because it requires only 6 seconds of interaction to make an impression. We feel that micro-donations, or donations under $20 would be a good way to promote fund raising. Donors could be rewarded with something small, such as digital badge they can download and repost to social media. To get these vine videos done we would all work on our videos on our own time and then post them on our team Facebook page. We will use our vine videos in rotation so that people interacting with Preemptive Love Coalition will have lots of content to view and interact with. After we post on our team’s Facebook page we would all have a group decision and then from there we would pick which vine video we will post on our gofundme. The vine videos will be engaging, informative and entertaining so that people will visit the gofundme page to make a donation.
We would also like to see Preemptive Love Coalition have an option for people to donate their birthdays to the organization. From the organizations website we would like to have a page where people can download simple graphics and pictures to use on their personal social media platforms to share with friends to ask for donations on behalf of their birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasion.
