We all know Livestrong for their signature yellow bracelets. We know that they sit in little buckets on the check-out counter at almost every athletic goods store. We know that Livestrong has teamed up with Nike and made their bracelets one of the most recognizable symbols for a charity ever. for the Livestrong organization this is great. The bracelets were about a dollar and went to the charity. What I think Livestrong has done so well in their efforts to gain donations is provide information and making themselves recognizable. If you think back very rarely did you see someone with a yellow bracelet on and they did not know what the bracelet stood for or what the cause was about. That is because Livestrong has made their organization the face of cancer. Livestrong also has done a very good job in gaining donations through selling a product. Livestrong offers a variety of shirts hoodies and other sports wear. On their store site they directly mention "Where style and philanthropy meet".
As we look at Livestrong's Twitter you can immediately notice how they do not just ask for donations but tell a story or show other's contributions and encourage you to join in. As Sarah Milton mentioned in our Google Hangout that telling a story is important. Livestrong's Twitter feed is full of difference stories or information about their cause to help inform people and involve them in the cancer community. Livestrong's Twitter is ideal for fundraising not only because they share different stories which engage and intrigue their followers but because their feed is more so a easy gateway for their followers. You may read an interesting tweet and next thing you know you are at a different site reading up a cancer survivor. This is a genius way to bring people the information they need to feel the need to donate.
