I think our biggest strategy should be outreach. We can accomplish this by posting to our relevant social media channels. I do believe we should keep up with the “healachild” hashtag, but we need something more. I was thinking we could start a campaign cross-referenced through Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook kind of like SmileTrain’s sing for smiles campaign. Of course, we would do something different, like dance for donations, dance for doctors, or dance for donations where people have to do a funny dance video or something and in return they receive donations. These programs need medical volunteers so this is a great way to shine light on the WPP. Hashtags are often frustrating to searching for on an organization page and not being able to find it. Creating and using hashtags can make a huge difference for WPP and their recognition in social media.
We definitely need to get college aged folks involved, not only to up the awareness in the RVA area, but because they are the future donors/supports of WPP. We could do this through the telegram or other social media campaigns where we link up with VCU/UofR/VSU and other educational centers to campaign together. We could also try a donation/volunteer drive through Twitter or Facebook, trying to stir up some activism within the college audience. To get the younger audience involved we would need to promote volunteering and service work as college students are always looking for volunteer hours.
Developing a course calendar with already set up and determined posts to the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram would be a great way to relay our message to the media. As previously stated in the videos there is little time devoted to social media, so this could be a huge help. Ms Stanley also said she would love to revamp the social media pages to make them more relevant and increase their following which is very obtainable through our strategies. We could gauge their following by measuring what their following increases to after we start the prescheduled posts. She also stated that she wanted to have a greater presence in Richmond, which could be done in several ways. We could reach out to radio stations and other media channels to have them speak about their upcoming events and the importance of donations during air time (potential university radio stations?). If the media channels do this, this is a sure way to increase their following and to get people talking about this important cause.
