After reviewing the social media platforms of Preemptive Love Coalition, our group discovered that photos and hashtags are key in grabbing the audience’s attention. Overall, the majority of Team 16 seemed to want to push for a greater following on one specific social media account, Instagram, and use other social media platforms to get them there. We believe implementing a daily hashtag campaign will bring in more followers to each platform. Every member would create a post on Instagram each day that would essentially be used through a cross platform approach based on the success it receives from Instagram – so if everyone makes a post to Instagram, the one with the most “Favorites” gets posted to Facebook and Twitter that same day.
An example of these hashtags could be #Heal[insert patient name] for patients and something like #WhyILove for doctors when discussing their reasons for assisting in Preemptive Love Coalition. The types of posts that would be shared are success stories, personal stories, and pictures of the area the organization is helping. Mentioning the area of Iraq itself in the posts with the hashtag #NewIraq or #LoveAndPeace would help echo the reality of the area they are helping.
To recap the month, team 16 came up with a “favorite” posts collage that would accumulate over a month that would be made up of posts that were “liked” the most. These photos would then be collected into a single post that would be shared across all three platforms. To optimize that there is a chance for their posts to gain awareness, we suggested finding out the highest viewing slots for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Facebook:
Facebook would post the most popular pictures from the organization’s Instagram and share the monthly favorite pictures collage. There is also an in-app donation button and with the use of hashtags and extra information through Twitter and Instagram, that would help to push traffic towards Facebook. Facebook would also post a more in depth view of the “favorite” pictures, so followers would be more inclined to view both Instagram and Facebook.
Twitter:
This is another platform we would use to showcase what “favorite” pictures popped up on Instagram. We would use the hashtags previously stated and share the monthly collage. Twitter would be another outlet to share ways to donate through Facebook and Preemptive Love Coalition’s website. Twitter would post a small in depth view of the “favorite” pictures, so followers would be more inclined to visit both Instagram and Twitter.
Instagram:
The biggest goal is to get more Instagram followers, so once a week posts to Facebook and Twitter teasing the content followers receive on Instagram could be posted to Preemptive Love Coalition’s timeline in order to draw in more viewers, all while using the same hashtags previously mentioned. If we restrict Instagram to just pictures that one cannot access on other platforms, it will bring more attention to that specific account. Facebook and Twitter would then be used to include the details at length of the stories shortened in captions on Instagram, and include videos as well. With an active daily participation rate from all group members, we think it is very likely that the amount of Preemptive Love Coalition’s followers, specifically on Instagram, will increase.
